Fishes - aquatic life in danger......

Over the years the demand for SEA food has risen to a great extent, as the population has risen. This has finally led to an increase in fishing activities thus depleting the fishes in high amounts. Our activities have not only caused problems as over-fishing but they have also led to the increase in water temperatures, eutrophication which basically occurs due to the increased introduction of chemicals into the water environment. Eutrophication causes the PHYTOPLANTONS to grow and accumulate on the water surface thus blocking the light entering and it also depletes the oxygen content in the water body.

Due to the release of chemicals the water temperature has increased thus making the environment warmer and unsuitable for the aquatic animals to live in. Many dye industries, chemical industries dump in their untreated effluents in the water bodies. The most recent example is the GANESH VISARJAN program that was carried out @ sea interfaces like JUHU, etc. Ganesha idols being made of POP, when immersed in water release great amounts of heat thus heating up the aquatic environment. This increased heat is intolerable to the aquatic animals and they finally start migrating towards the interiors of the water bodies.(instead of POP idols normal eco friendly mud idols can be used).

Not only this but recently two major OIL-SPILLS were in newspapers, people all over were busy discussing about the grand ships that were stationed @ the beach but no one was considerate enough to find out the damage done to the aquatic life. Everywhere there were discussion about the no. of days for which the sea food is to be avoided due to the spills, but no one discussed about the threat caused to the aquatic animals.

Fishes are a rich source for proteins and there r many other products made from these fishes, and with the increasing demand and increasing population load the fishing activity too has extended to a proportion unsafe for the aquatic life.
Its now time that we release that r selfish activities are not only risking r future in the dark but also is pulling other innocent creatures into it, with this consumption speed very soon there will be a time when AQUATIC LIFE WILL BE A CHAPTER IN HISTORY BOOKS…….
